Chicago Fed Broad Growth Index Held Near Zero in June Before July Release
The Chicago Fed's National Activity Index edged up to –0.02 in June from –0.19 in May, signaling continued below-trend growth but an improvement across most of its four indicator categories. The three-month moving average also rose to –0.05, sitting well above the –0.70 threshold historically associated with economic contraction. The July reading, covering 85 monthly indicators, is scheduled for release on August 24 at 8:30 a.m. ET and will show whether that modest recovery held.
