Iowa and Montana filed a motion with the Supreme Court on August 25 seeking original jurisdiction to declare the $110 billion Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery merger lawful and halt the California-led antitrust suit blocking it. The filing is a request for relief, not a granted order, and the Supreme Court has not yet assigned a case number or set official response dates. At least two active legal barriers remain: the 12-state district court case, which has a temporary restraining order in place and a trial scheduled for March 2027, and a separate lawsuit filed by the Writers Guild of America.

DAZN announced an agreement on 26 August 2026 to acquire EverPass Media, the NFL and RedBird Capital Partners venture that holds exclusive rights to distribute NFL Sunday Ticket to U.S. commercial venues such as bars, restaurants, and hotels. If completed, the deal would rebrand EverPass as DAZN for Business and bring the NFL's 32 Equity arm, RedBird, and TKO Group Holdings in as minority DAZN shareholders, though purchase price, closing conditions, and regulatory approvals remain undisclosed. A U.S. District Court approved a consent judgment on August 26, 2026, requiring Meta to implement a two-hour combined daily time limit, midnight-to-6 a.m. platform blocking, and non-personalized feed options for users under 18 on Instagram and Facebook for 10 years. The maximum state payment schedule totals $16.68 billion, though a significant portion is contingent on Snap, TikTok, and YouTube adopting comparable obligations — a trigger not yet met. Meta's own SEC filings warn that reduced teen engagement from these restrictions could materially lower ad impressions and revenue, since advertising accounts for substantially all of the company's income.
