Russia Bans Diesel Exports Through July 31 as Refinery Strikes Cut Domestic Supply
Ukraine's drone campaign against Russian refineries, including a July 6 strike on the Omsk facility, forced Moscow to restrict diesel, marine fuel, and gas oil exports from producers, with only pre-existing contracts exempted. European gasoil futures closed 13 percent higher on the announcement day, with London wholesale diesel peaking at $1,114 per tonne, while U.S. diesel posted its largest single-day gain in four years. Turkey and Brazil now absorb at least half of available Russian diesel cargoes, making them the most exposed buyers if the ban extends past its July 31 deadline.
