YouTube Bars Three AI Video Categories From Partner Program Monetization
On July 15, 2025, YouTube renamed its monetization policy to 'inauthentic content' and explicitly disqualified three content types from revenue eligibility: generic or repetitive videos, emotionally manipulative or off-putting content, and AI personas offering advice on health, legal, financial, or political topics. The update introduces a qualitative editorial review layer on top of the existing subscriber and watch-hour thresholds, meaning channels can be removed from the YouTube Partner Program regardless of meeting those quantitative benchmarks. YouTube has not published data on affected channels, disclosed review frequency, or detailed a dedicated appeals process for creators flagged under the new categories.
