Vattenfall took a final investment decision on September 10, 2026, to build its largest battery project to date at the decommissioning Brunsbüttel nuclear plant in northern Germany, targeting operation by end of 2028. The 254 MW / ~1,000 MWh project grew from an earlier 700 MWh design and will connect to the 50Hertz 380 kV transmission grid to absorb surplus wind and solar output. Supplier, battery chemistry, capital cost, and specific commercial applications have not been disclosed.

SpaceX's Starship Flight 14, scheduled for a September 18–19 window per an FAA operations advisory, is planned as the vehicle's first orbital insertion attempt and would carry approximately 20 production Starlink V3 satellites in what SpaceX's CFO has described as a revenue-generating mission. Starlink V3 satellites offer roughly 10 times the downlink capacity of V2, and a single Starship launch can deliver about 20 times the capacity of a Falcon 9 V2 mission. The method represents candidate equations as directed acyclic graphs and uses genetic programming with L-BFGS coefficient optimization, running in roughly 80 minutes on consumer-grade hardware.
