Paramount Asks Court to Require a $1.88 Billion Bond by September 30
Paramount has filed a motion in the Northern District of California asking states and the Writers Guild of America to post a $1,884,726,092.73 bond by September 30, 2026, or face dissolution of the no-close order blocking its merger with Warner Bros. Discovery. The company calculates roughly $6.97 million in daily ticking fees beginning October 1, plus $190 million in financing costs, as its basis for the figure. Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín will hear arguments on September 24, with the antitrust trial itself not scheduled until March 2027.
