Skyroot Aerospace Prepares India's First Private Orbital Launch
India's first privately developed orbital rocket, Vikram-1, completed first-stage stacking at Sriharikota's First Launch Pad by late June 2026, but as of July 2, no launch attempt had been declared by Skyroot, IN-SPACe, or ISRO. The mission, officially called Mission Aagama, has slipped from a January 2026 target through successive windows, and tracker rocketlaunch.org still lists it as NET 2026 TBD. The flight matters because it would mark the first time a privately built orbital rocket has launched from India, backed by a freshly minted unicorn valuation and a commercial satellite deployment partnership with Exolaunch.
